Baltics
Hidden from the Western world by the "Iron Curtain" for decades, the Baltics have emerged and are slowly becoming a tourist hotspot. The moment you arrive you can see why. Medieval city streets lay beside grand boulevards topped with Soviet symbols. Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia, comprise the northern European region of the Baltics and have been at the center of numerous empires over the past few millennia. After being occupied post WWII by the Soviets, the region's nationalism took over resulting in numerous velvet revolutions, including the Baltic Chain, a chain of
3 million people holding hands going from Vilnius to Tallinn. Anyone who wants to take a step back in the tourism cycle and see a series of countries with great people, great food, and some amazing palaces, should visit the Baltics!
